Caravan Seasonal Storage

Caravans or a camper in other words, are typically seasonal type of vehicles. They are great for the summer when you want to get the family together to take a trip together, or even in the spring or fall for family vacations. However, in the winter many people consider getting seasonal caravan storage because they simply do not have the room to store it at their home.

If you do have caravan storage in your driveway or yard, then there are three options for you to get seasonal caravan storage. You could store it at a site that is dedicated to caravan storage, you could also store it in an underground site, or even on a campsite since many of them allow this type of storage throughout the year. Storage at home is obviously the most cost effective, and that way you can keep your caravan in sight at all times, but sometimes it simply isn’t practical. So when you do store it somewhere else you have to be concerned with some of the safety issues.

If you can find a seasonal caravan storage company that has an onsite security guard or gated entrances that lock all of the time, then you are better off. Just having a security guard there will do a lot to secure your caravan. This also helps it from being vandalized inside as well, since there is no question that thieves hate to be seen or heard by anyone. It also makes the security alarms more effective since they can be loud and heard by someone who may be there all of the time.

Open air storage sites are relatively less expensive areas in which have caravan storage. Most of the facilities are generally accessible during the summer, but your caravan will be open to all the elements when you do not have it out. That means that it can be vulnerable to rain, snow, hail, and even tornados or hurricanes if that applies to your area. Then of course you have the issue of theft if these areas are not gated or locked.

Undercover storage is the best option; however, it is most like the most expensive. These caravan storage sites often operate with barns or in warehouses that will hold your caravan as long as you need it to be held. The benefit to this is that your caravan will be in a safe location away from the elements of nature. They are often locked facilities so that will deter theft and vandalism as well. However, if you are not that experienced with driving the caravan you may want to ask them to pull it in for you since the spaces are tight and close together.

Finally you have the campsite caravan storage which is relatively safe and less expensive then undercover storage. The bigger campsites have areas in which you can just pull your caravan and leave it there until you need it again. They are usually open year round so you can get to it whenever you want. The security for this caravan storage usually includes someone manning the front gate or an onsite property manager, as well as the luxury of having people in and around the campsite to be on the lookout for safety issues.
